Island Desk (2006) < > A woman at odds with her corporate environment mollifies herself with fantasies about the private affairs of her co-workers. Desks become islands and walls become ocean as she navigates the slow-changing terrain of the day-to-day. This work is staged in five acts. Each act represents a day of the workweek. As Monday transitions to Tuesday the set shifts turning like the slow dials of a clock. On “Wednesday” mirrored set walls block the audience view and they are forced to experience the work as sounds, shadows, vibration and their own reflection.
